New York - Ulster County Ban the Box Law

If you are seeking employment at a county-wide government agency in Ulster County, you are covered by their Ban the Box law. This law only applies to the public sector.

Ulster County has made it unlawful for any public sector job application to ask about your criminal history. All applications for Ulster County government agencies will be reviewed and judged based on the qualifications presented. In addition, an employer cannot ask about or consider your criminal convictions until after the first interview, “except as when otherwise required by law.”
