Pennsylvania - Pittsburgh Ban the Box Law

Pittsburgh has two Ban the Box laws, which apply to City employees and contractors.  The City cannot ask about your criminal history on job applications (excluding applications for the public safety sensitive positions of police officer, firefighter, paramedic, and school crossing guard). The city cannot ask about your conviction history until you have been identified as qualified and offered a conditional offer of employment. If, as a result of the background check, the City finds a valid reason to withdraw its conditional offer, you will have an opportunity to provide clarifying information before the City makes its final hiring decision. If denied employment, you have the right to appeal.
