Lehigh County has a Ban the Box policy that applies to both applications for County employment and private employers. An employer may not ask whether you have ever been convicted of a crime on a job application. They also cannot require you to disclose any prior criminal convictions before an initial interview or consider conviction records that are unrelated to your qualifications. After an initial interview, an employer may use a background check, and if they decide not to hire you, they must provide you with a notification in writing.
