Pennsylvania - Bethlehem Ban the Box Law

Bethlehem has a Ban the Box policy for City employees. The City does not ask about criminal history until the final stages of the hiring process. The city performs a background check only for job finalists. An individualized assessment is conducted using the EEOC factors when the city considers an applicant's criminal history. For example, the city may deny you a job if your criminal record is related to the job duties. After receiving a conditional offer of employment, you are still required to provide the city with a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Federal Criminal History Background Check, and a Pennsylvania State Police Clearance.
