The City of Cambridge has a Ban the Box law. The City and its vendors will not ask about criminal history on City job applications. Background checks are required for only some jobs after an applicant is determined to be otherwise qualified for the position. Employers must use the EEOC criteria to conduct individualized assessments of job applicants to consider if the conviction is related to the duties of the job. If denied employment, you have the right to a copy of the report and to appeal their decision.
